Autoclaving Scissors
You can significantily increase the life of your
instruments (especially scissors) when autoclaving or
using any sterilization technique which involves
moisture.
First, make sure the blades of your scissors are open
slightly during sterilization.
After the sterilization cycle is complete,
IMMEDIATELY remove the sterilized scissor and dry
the blades with a soft, adsorbent cloth. Leave the blades
of the scissor open while cooling.
Following these steps will inhibit the formation of pits
on the blade surface, which causes the scissor to become
dull.
